engagement

I don't really know what I was expecting but Ryan's proposal was above and beyond anything I could have hoped for.

Prior to getting engaged we had talked about our future and I knew the direction we were heading. Yes, I had thoughts of where and when - especially when birthdays, holidays and special events came up but I really couldn't picture what he would do. I dreamt of something creative, something romantic and something unique but also kept in mind that Ryan would ultimately be the one who got the task of devising the plan. I feel for the boys who want to get married, there is a lot of pressure to perform when it comes to popping the question.

Ryan and I were on vacation in New York City for a week before attending a wedding in Toronto. Our vacation happened to line up with our second anniversary so we were excited to get away and celebrate. I had never been to NYC before so I was excited just to get there!

We rented an apt off Craigslist which turned out to be AWESOME and got down to all the serious sight seeing we could as soon as we got there. We did it all and really loved every minute of it. The pictures from that trip are a true testament to how brilliant that city is and of how much we LOVED our time there.

When our anniversary rolled around Ryan let me know he had plans for us. It was a Monday and a fun day! we spent the am shopping and then I was surprised with a taping of Letterman which was quite the experience. After the show we went for dinner at this famous, old, Italian restaurant that was seriously gangster. Literally. It was full of character and we were full of good food!

After that we walked up to central park for a horse drawn carriage ride. I knew that part was coming because we had talked about doing it beforehand.... it was around 8pm and it was windy and a bit chilly out but the park was beautiful all lit up at night. As soon as our ride started Ryan pulled out my present. I opened it and found it was a scrapbook?! WOW I thought this was the BEST thing EVER. Ryan? make a scrapbook? no f-ing way hahaha we went thru it together and he read the captions to me as we did. It was a series of pics of us that had been altered to look very artistic and modern. Ryan's photoshop skills are pretty advanced. Anyway, with each picture the story continued. I could tell that the words accompanying the pictures were going somewhere.....When we got to the last page, Ry was on his knee in the carriage with a ring he pulled out of I don't even know where (I found out later it came from his sock where he was carrying the ring box since dinner). It was perfect. We got a few pix, made a few calls and went to check out David Blaine hanging upside down in the park hahaha it was a night I will never possibly forget and an engagement story I really don't get sick of telling.
I am happy to say that my man nailed it even under all the pressure AND pulled off a lot to get it all prepared for NYC not to mention pulled off A LOT getting it all to NYC.
The second leg of our trip, our time in Toronto was a real treat. We got to share our engagement with family and close friends that we don't often get to see AND all of my immediate family who had made the trip as well.
Nicely done Ryan, nicely done :)

It didn't take us long to set a date and now it is coming up pretty quick. My goal is to document the time leading up to the wedding and capture as much of the process as possible.

Stay tuned...
