ok. I realize that our paper debacle is our own fault BUT I was so so so happy and relieved that The Paper Poet agreed to exchange the blasted too thick paper, for the thinner stuff we need. They don't usually return or exchange if the package is open, but again there is an exception to the rule!
Thank you Paper Poet! we appreciate it SO MUCH!

wedding bands
yesterday, while in kits for one of our cake consults, we decided to also pop in to Spence Diamonds! Yay! we love Spence Diamonds! They are great! didn't take long for me to pick my ring. The one that matches my engagement ring is exactly what I want. Ryan also may have picked his out....got his finger sized:) They also, again, cleaned my ring.....I stop in pretty often to get my ring cleaned because I work across the street. They will provide this service for LIFE. I am telling you, check this company out before you buy elsewhere....They said we should give at least 2 weeks for the rings to come in once they are ordered which won't be a problem. Sooner than later we are thinking because we might get them engraved and Spence doesn't do that part!

bump...
omg the cardstock we bought for our invites is too thick for our printer! and it's too think for Ryan's work printer!.....SO, another trip to the paper poet is in order. Hopefully I can return what we have and get the thinner stuff. The lesson here? definitely consider the advice if the experts instead of learning the hard way urrrrrg!

more cake
we went to both our cake consults today and were very happy with both. Some minor differences but nothing major. Even the pricing was fairly similar. I will say however, that if you are looking for something a bit more custom, Motzart's is the way to go. Everything they do is designed around you, the lucky customer! Cupcakes is a bit more template driven, BUT still great.
We have decided to go with a cupcake tier with a small cake for cutting on the top. It is going to be delightful! As for now, we have to decide between 2 great establishments!
I highly recommend both and know people who have used and who have been impressed by both of the following...

A Note About Bridal Gear and Budgets
ok so I've been looking for a lace bolero to go with my dress. And up until last Tuesday I thought it was going to cost me somewhere in the range of $200-$400!!! I was depressed by this notion because my dress came in under budget and under budget is where I want to stay!
Last Tuesday Ryan and I were at The Paper Poet picking up our invite materials FINALLY, and I decided to pop in to a store I had been in several months ago. They have new and consignment items and great customer service. I asked a few questions about the bolero situation. Showed the nice woman helping me my dress. Looked at some lace samples....by the end of our brief meeting I was told I should definitely not have to pay more than $100 for what I want. And $100 is the max!!.............The trick here is getting it directly from the factory that makes it. You save a TON of the cost!
SO BRIDES....if there is something you can get from the factory that makes it instead of going through a designer, or even a store that goes through the designer, DO IT. All you have to do is ask a few more questions and cut out the middle man!
Even the place I got my wedding dress was wanting me to pay $200 to bring in the bolero and then another $100 or so for the alterations I want made. BUT now I am going to have exactly what I want for half the cost. YAY
This wedding stuff is tricky to navigate but it is possible!

Paper
still haven't picked up all our paper yet. Hopefully this week....we love The Paper Poet in New West BC and will be using them for sure. They are a very creative spot with tons of inspiration, style, and variety. DEFINITELY suggest them. Their prices are quite good as well. Much cheaper than some other big name stores!
