The Dress

It didn't take me that long to find my wedding dress and it was a lot easier and a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

I looked at a few places, tried on a few dresses but finally found "the one" on January 7, 2009. It was a Wednesday.

In total, I visited about 5 stores but only tried stuff on in 3 and my guess would be that I put on 10-12 dresses including the keeper. But excluding the 2 a store had me model for them.

I had ruled out a certain style of dress at the beginning of my search because it just wasn't fitting well or flattering me at all. BUT it was that style of dress I had always had in mind for what I would wear. When I went shopping on Jan 7 I picked out a few dresses in different styles but saw 1 that I really loved the look of. Unfortunately, it was in the ruled out style. I decided to try it on just to be 100% sure this type of dress wasn't for me.....I put it on and voila, it was THE dress. It looked amazing, felt amazing and looked amazing hahaha and the price was right! This just proves ladies that you really need to try on anything and everything you think you "might" like.

The dress I decided on and bought right then and there was exactly like the dress I had in mind from before day 1.....When I put it on I seriously just knew and that was the feeling I was searching for. Sure, you can look great in a lot of different dresses but can you FEEL like just any dress was made for you and waiting for you?? I think not. So to anyone who is on the verge of settling on a dress because they are short on time, or think they have a difficult body shape or size to shop for etc etc whatever the reason, don't settle for anything less than your dream dress.

I thought shopping for a dress was going to be hellish for lots of reasons. My budget, my style, my body, my second guessing nature, my obsession with detail...the list goes on. But I stuck to my guns! sweated it out for a few days of getting in and out of all those heavy gowns and came out with a winner! I had SO much fun during the process and will remember it as one of the easiest aspects of the wedding planning!

The thing to remember is that much like finding the right guy, when trying to find the right dress you'll have to slay a few dragons before you get to the prince!

Also, I must add that my dress was supposed to be done in May. I got a call last week from the shop letting me know that it is done and ready! 3 months ahead of schedule! Thank you Alfred Angelo! Some dress makers are running a month behind right now so I am THRILLED I won't have to deal with that headache :)
